AIM Consulting is currently serving as the Public Outreach and Engagement consultant for the City of Sacramento’s I Street Bridge Replacement Project to connect the city of Sacramento and West Sacramento across the Sacramento River. The I Street Bridge is more than 100 years old and the existing traffic lanes are too narrow to serve buses, there are no bicycle lanes, and sidewalks are too narrow to meet accessibility standards. The I Street Bridge Replacement project will include the design and construction of a new bridge crossing upstream of the existing I Street Bridge.Building upon outreach efforts during the Sacramento River Crossings Study, AIM developed and is implementing a community engagement program to inform and involve the community throughout the process. AIM coordinated and facilitated eight presentations to local community-based organizations, property-based income districts (PBIDs), and active transportation groups. AIM has also planned and facilitated two community open house workshops for the community to learn more about the project, proposed crossing location, schedule and the environmental review process. AIM lead open house attendees on a walking tour tour along the Sacramento River to view the existing I Street Bridge, the proposed crossing location, connections to nearby streets and trails. More than 120 community members attended the open house workshops and the walking tour. AIM continues to update the community through quarterly electronic newsletters and updates to the project webpage.
- AIM was instrumental in developing and implementing successful communications strategies that highlighted the District's efforts to both a local and regional audience.
